Holly retired in 2020 after 17 years as the Director of Weinberg Village Waimanalo, — a transitional housing program for homeless families – where she inherited a cat colony of 50 cats, learned about TNRM, and the lack of sanctuary space on Oahu which led to starting Popoki Place Oahu Cat Sanctuary.
Malia is a Partner and Creative Director at Wall-to-Wall Studios, a branding and advertising agency. She actively participates in TNR and fostering, and wants to see humane cat management strategies implemented at larger scale.
Irobela worked part-time for Weinberg Village Waimanalo after working for the City & County of Honolulu for 25 years. At WVW, she helped care for the cat colony with Holly and the resident families. She is thrilled to be a part of the effort to build a large-scale sanctuary on Oahu.
A retired professor from the University of Hawaii, Linde loves and appreciates Hawaii's fauna and flora. Linde is deeply committed to the well-being of feral cats as well as the birds and wildlife of Hawaii.
Tom was the Founder of the non-profit Paliku Theatre in Kaneohe serving as General Manager for nearly 20 years. Fourteen years ago, he took a month-long vacation to bottle-feed and foster 3 abandoned two-week old kittens, keeping far more cats than originally planned.
Yvonne is a business transactional attorney and a licensed real estate broker. She fell in love with the cat sanctuary concept and setting when she first visited the Lanai Cat Sanctuary.
Leslie Witten is an educator at Le Jardin Academy, where she founded a student group, the Pono Popoki Project, to care for and manage the free-roaming cats on campus while being mindful stewards of the marsh nearby.
Pōpoki Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission
of providing a safe, healthy sanctuary for homeless cats on the island of O‘ahu. We envision a world where all cats have a safe place to live their best possible lives while helping to protect our endangered monk seals and ground-nesting birds.
